what i keep making
small, finished things.
-
flensburg bus tracker
an advanced overview of the busses moving around Flensburg, Germany.
- sveltekit
a sampler of everything i keep practising
laminated dough is the same few motions, worked in squares. most of them not quite right.
the deep
large, quiet, and mostly under.
hello
i'm nils. i build for the web, and i care most about the parts nobody notices — the data model, the empty state, what happens when the network drops halfway through.
what i build
small, complete things. i would rather ship one page that works everywhere than five that only work on my laptop.
the code is on githubwhat i am learning
golang, going up hills fast, and Franzbrötchen. the answer changes every few weeks, which is more or less the point.
away from the screen
flour, film and a bicycle. the three drawings below are not a break from the work — they are where most of the ideas actually arrive.
where this is going
somewhere with better light and a longer climb. if you are building something interesting, say hello.
the long way round
what the valve stem draws while the wheel goes round.
the bike
a Rose Reveal 04. carbon frame, Shimano 105 Di2, and nothing on it i have not had a reason to touch.
the rides
north, towards Denmark, and back again when the light goes.
climbs
the climb is the point. the descent is just the receipt.
why
a ride is the only meeting where the agenda is the road. problems that will not move at a desk tend to come apart somewhere in the second hour.
cadence
spin, do not grind. everyone tells you this and nobody believes it until their knees do.
where the light gets in
one mark, at every distance from focus.
the camera
a Sony A7C II. small enough that it actually comes with me, which is the only spec that has ever mattered.
the light
i will wait an hour for twenty minutes of it. the good stuff is early, late, or overcast — never noon.
what i point it at
adventures, life, nature. usually all three at once.
